Russian Tall Ship Pallada

Friday was a big day. The morning was routine enough, but after a quick and early lunch, I left for downtown with August, Déla and Kyle. The Russian tall sailing ship Pallada was in town for a few days, and we thought it would be fun to check it out. It arrived Wednesday afternoon, but we didn’t learn about it at all until Wednesday night. Thursday would have been a good day to go, but my in-laws were coming down to visit for the day. They hadn’t seen Kyle in a decent stretch of time, so that was a visit planned quite a while back. Friday was the day we could go, but we had get going, as the ship was scheduled to leave Friday evening and tours were only being conducted until about 3 in the afternoon.

I could write an entire blog post about parking that day. Maybe I’ll write it up if I find the time. Suffice to say we parked and began our trek to the waterfront. There was a lot of people there, and not just for the Pallada. A cruise ship was in town, and the Red Sox were playing the first of a three game stand, so there were more tourists than usual. Why do so many Boston fans travel to Seattle for a game? Anyway…

We found where to go, and were greeted by a rather majestic sight. It’s an impressive ship, really. Maybe if you are around ships, and perhaps sailing ships particularly it might not be as impressive, but for us landlubbers, we were impressed.
