I hate grocery shopping on Sundays.
I’m sure that’s not a surprise to many people. Most people who work during the week don’t have the time to do a major shopping trip during until the weekend. Also on Sunday it’s usually the first day a new set of coupons take effect. The grocery store can be awfully crowded on Sunday.
Most of my shopping takes place during the weekday, particularly in the morning after dropping the kids off at school. One of the things I like about where we live is that I can walk to the store. I drop off the kids at school, walk to the store, pick up a bag of groceries, then head back home.
While I usually am able to head to the store, get in and out in under 30 minutes, but yesterday it took a heck of a lot longer. It took me well over an hour to get my grocery shopping done.
Alright, so sure, I had a cart with me and not a hand-held basket. It was so difficult to maneuver quickly because the store was so crowded with at least 4 or more times as many people in the store as there are when I normally go. Then there was the checkout. Lines were long and getting behind the woman who is 148 years old and slower than dial-up was the best option.
As much as I can, I’m going to stick to doing my grocery shopping on weekday mornings when I can shop easily and even walk to the cashier and check out without waiting in line.
