What the heck is going on?
Am I even around to keep this blog updated?
Yesterday I woke up early and went to my spin class. Actually, it went really well. For the first time since July I felt like I participated in the class the way I should be. At Cub Scout camp in July I wound up pulling a groin muscle. It hasn’t really debilitated me much, but it did slow me down.
The biggest, most lasting effect it has had on me is in spin class. The resistance on the bike has been minimal, I haven’t been able to stay up in the standing position on the bike much at all, etc. Things have been getting better, and yesterday was great. While I wasn’t able to do everything, I did place quite a bit of resistance on the bike during the hills, I was able to stay up in the 3rd position almost the whole time it was part of the class, etc. I broke into a heavy sweat and we ridiculously tired afterward, but I felt a sense of accomplishment afterward.
Déla spent the day at Holy Names Academy, visiting to see if that would be the right high school for her next year. I could probably make a whole blog post about the process at pick up at the end of the day.
Xavier had a basketball game, and I’m sitting there on the bench almost nodding off. It was not only embarrassing, but I felt bad about it. Then there was the rush to Boy Scouts, or the run to the costume store for the final piece to August’s Halloween costume, or getting dinner made, or Tevye to and from preschool, and on and on.
There was so much going on yesterday. Notice what I didn’t mention? Drinking water.
That was a massive mistake.
I woke up this morning, early as usual, to attend my spin class. Only this time I had a massive headache. I mean, wow, did I feel like crap. Actually, I felt so bad I nearly cancelled going to spin class. But I went and it was just like it was in August, I couldn’t put much (if any) resistance on the wheel, could barely get up off of the seat let alone stay up for a prolonged period of time.
So today I have been drinking plenty of water.
This afternoon I feel a heck of a lot better. Hopefully tomorrow morning’s spin class will be a bit more of a return to accomplishment than setback.
Now if I could only do something about the rest of my overly packed schedule, with things such as Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, or getting Déla to and from dance (with extra practices because of an upcoming national competition), or getting August to school on his “late start” days (like today) and racing back home only to retrieve his forgotten iPad which he needs for class which he realized as he was being dropped off 17 minutes before he needs to be in class (like today).
