Alright, so it might be shallow, but I’m thankful for DVR technology. Being able to record my television shows to watch at a later time is great. I used to set up my VCR daily to record shows, and that was a pain. Now, as a parent of five children, my time is even more precious. Being able to enter in a television program and have it automatically record, week in, week out, is fantastic.
No longer do I have to worry about setting my VCR to record whatever is going to be on later that night. It was a hassle, setting the time and channel, making sure there was enough tape, etc. And what about watching a taped episode of a show from the previous week while the current episode records? Now each episode of a program is automatically recorded as it appears on the schedule. I usually don’t even have to worry about the program switching days or times.
With our busy schedule, being able to relax at the end of the day is a big deal. Laura and I like to sit down after all the kids get to bed and decompress. Usually, however, we’re both working. Still, being able to not have the hassle of worrying about what did or didn’t record is nice and allows us to relax a bit easier.
My kids’ minds are blown that we weren’t able to pause the television when we were kids.
