That is how much I weigh. At 6 foot 1 inch, I could stand to lose a few pounds. Now I have a major impetus. I don’t weigh as much as I used to, and the reason for that was life insurance.
A few years ago Laura and I got life insurance policies, and in order to qualify for certain rates, we had to weigh a certain amount, and that meant going on a diet and shedding about 20 pounds or so. The cut off for the weight/rate I was trying for was 228 pounds. It took over a month of hardcore dieting, but I just barely made it for the medical exam.
I continued to diet and eventually got down to close to around 205 pounds, which I hated because I was constantly hungry. I don’t do hungry very well.
Laura and I are changing our life insurance policies, moving over to the Knights Of Columbus since I am a member. It is not only going to be cheaper for us with the same coverage, but the money is going to a charitable organization.
The only problem is now I need to go on a diet again. I knew I had gained back quite a bit of the weight I had lost, but didn’t know how much. For my age and height, and for the premium we are hoping to pay, I have to. Be down to 218. When I was asked how much I weigh for the paperwork, I guessed 230, and sort of lowballed it out of embarassment.
I have a couple of weeks before the medical exam. Today I start. I weigh 229.4 pounds. 12 to go.
