Today started off with the offer of a few free MP3 downloads from Amazon. Usually they are by artists I don’t know or don’t care that much for. This time, it was a mix of 5 different artists, one of which was Rick Springfield. The songs were all Christmas themed. A free Christmas song by Rick Springfield? Yes, please!
But that wasn’t all.
Later on as I kept browsing around Amazon’s MP3 offerings, I stumbled upon Christopher Lee’s Heavy Metal Christmas. It was only two songs, but well worth the purchase. Yes, this is the same Christopher Lee that portrayed Count Dooku in Star Wars, The Creature, Dracula and The Mummy (yes, all three) in various Hammer horror films, a Bond villain, Saruman in the recent Tolkien film adaptations and so many more.
“Little Drummer Boy” and “Silent Night” by Christopher Lee in a serious heavy metal style? I simply couldn’t refuse. You shouldn’t either.
UPDATE: I got a cease and desist type email letting me know I was in violation by streaming “The Little Drummer Boy.” I am hoping to get it worked out soon.
