“Barney & Friends” has been around a while – and only a few years ago did new episodes stop getting produced. New DVDs keep getting released, and Let’s Go To The Moon is one of the latest featuring the purple dinosaur. As you might have guessed, the central theme is centered on the moon.
What should be noted is this is a compilation of different past episodes resnipped and repurposed in a way to appear new. First up Riff attempts to go to Mars, then Baby Bop wishes to visit the Man In The Moon. Finally, B.J. brags he can jump over the moon as his super hero alter ego.
I actually wish there was more about the moon on this DVD that it would appear by looking at the title. It’s a little disappointing, even, the longest section of the DVD featuring B.J.’s super hero alter ego is less about the moon than it is about bragging. Actual moon use during this section of program is minimal.
I’m not a barney hater. I’m not overly fond of the big purple dinosaur, but I also see the value in it for the audience it is for. If you’re looking to introduce your younger to themes of space and the moon in particular, this DVD will fall short. If you’re looking for an hour worth of Barney, this will work.
