These are a few of the things that have cropped up in my head the last few weeks concerning the Seattle Mariners.
Does Edgar Martinez have a lifetime pass to Safeco Field? Is he employed by the Seattle Mariners in any capacity or does he have to pay to go to the ball park and watch a game?
How does that work for other major figures, like Ken Griffey Jr.? I know I wouldn’t charge him admission to see the Mariners.
Will the Mariners please just retire numbers 51, 11 and 24 now? If the team is waiting for the players to get inducted to the Baseball Hall Of Fame, just stop. Either retire the numbers and move on. At least number 11. Jeez.
With a few 1-year contracts for the season (such as Raul Ibanez and Jason Bay) one has to wonder if this is meant to cap the salary while more permanent players are found. Rebuilding the team for the future would seem to include some long-term vision, and 1-year contracts don’t seem to point towards one.
Do the Mariners keep trading with the Yankees thinking they will get another Jay Buhner?
Do players seek autographs from other players? This is more of a general baseball question, but do players ask for autographs from teammates and opposing teams? Are there rules about this?
Moving the fences in a little should help with giving the Mariners a few extra runs – but won’t it also help opposing teams?
