Phamily Foto Phriday 4-5-13 Spring Break Edition

This week the kids were out of school. I tried to do something every day so they didn’t just spend all day in front of the television. Among the things we did are library and two trips to the optometrist to get Ciárán’s glasses fixed.

Wednesday we went to Gas Mask Park. Well, fine, it’s Gas Works Park, but I call it Gas Mask Park because about 10-15 years ago it kept getting shut down while people in hazmat suits did work to clean up some toxic soil. I used to hang out there all the time and never suffered any side effects. *twitch*

I really like that picture of Ciárán. It happened completely by accident!

It might be hard to tell, but that is the Space Needle and downtown on the other side of Lake Union. Of course the kids went up the “big hill” and rolled down it.

Thursday we went to the Burke Museum. It was a heck of a lot better than I remember, but still entirely too small for what it should be.

The Burke Museum is more like a single exhibit in a much larger natural history museum. I want to like it more, but at least we got in free (first Thursday of the month is free for many of Seattle’s museums).

Friday it was the one-two punch of the Aquarium and Pike Place Market. Sadly because we got to a late start (including the second of two visits to the optometrist to get Ciárán’s glasses fixed) we didn’t get to partake of as much of either location as much as we would have liked.

We still managed to have a lot of fun.

No, your eyes are not deceiving you – Xavier did get his hair cut.

No, we’re not going to talk about it.

At the market we stopped off at Daily Donut for what I think are Seattle’s best treats. You can’t quite tell in the picture, but that’s the famous Public Market Center sign (the one with the clock) in the background through the glass.
