The kids are back in school today. Mostly. Today is technically the first day of school. I say technically because it’s a half day. And not everybody is in school. It’s confusing and frustrating. I’ll explain on the way, but let’s get to the pictures.
Here’s August, entering 4th grade.
Déla heads to 3rd grade.
Here’s Xavier. He wanted me to take a picture of him, so I obliged. He hams it up like nobody’s business.
He’s not actually going to school today. There’s what referred to as “slow start” where he will go tomorrow and Tuesday (Monday being Labor Day) then not on Wednesday and Thursday, then “normal” schedule starts on Friday. We’ll get back to him in a bit.
Here’s Ciárán ready for his first day of Kindergarten.
Déla had the most school supplies for some reason.
A few months ago there was an event where the pre-schoolers got to go in and check out the Kindergarten rooms. Ciárán got to the door then wouldn’t go in. It took me almost 10 minutes to convince him to go in. Today he marched into class with no problems.
Kindergarten is also on a “slow start” which means tomorrow may be the first full day of class for everybody, except that Kindergarten gets out at noon.
Okay, I get the hint, you want me to go and don’t want me to take pictures. Fine. I’ll leave. I have somewhere to go anyway.
Here’s Xavier checking out the pre-school during an “open house” event this morning. He’ll be in the morning classes for the younger kids, which gets out at 11:00 – that means tomorrow I’ll drop 4 kids off at 8:20, pick one up at 11, another at 12 then 2 others at 3.
Thankfully next week the schedule will get normalized – oh, except for Wednesday and Thursday which I already talked about. Sheesh.
