For years we have been saying we would go. BrickCon is a LEGO convention held annual in Seattle and August has wanted to go ever since he became aware of it something like 5 years ago.
Because of other commitments we were unable to stay more than a couple of hours. It was enough to see most of what they have to offer. We got there just after the doors opened and it was already crowded. By the time we left a couple of hours later the place was absolutely packed.
This is a pretty famous piece in LEGO circles. This is the “Ultimate Batcave” which is a massive piece, but even then it wasn’t the largest item on display.
Lots of scenes were on display that featured plenty of detail. Inventive pirate scenes set in the ocean. Fantastic science fiction landscapes. Real life buildings and street scenes and so much more. Here is a random castle scene that shows a dragon attacking. This was one of the less elaborate ones on display.
Then we get to two of my favorite items at BrickCon. Fans of Japanese monsters and long running British science fiction television should instantly recognize them.
There was even an area for the kids to build away. Different types of stuff was on hand from Bionicle/Hero Factory to regular bricks.
It was difficult to tear ourselves away, but we managed. And now we can dream about next year.
