I’m headed to Boston again, and pretty much for the same reason as last time. I don’t know what happened, but not only did I not really write about the trip, I didn’t plan it very well and didn’t do as much as I thought I would.
This time I’m planning ahead.
I have a “go to” place for lunch that I’m going to hit up one day. That happens every time and this trip won’t be any different.
Last time I somehow missed out on going to the North End for dinner. Or lunch. Not this time.
The Constitution – I’ve walked the Freedom Trail twice, and both times I stop short or took the path to Bunker Hill. Not this time. I’m hoping the USS Constitution is open when I am there. And yes, I am aware part of the Freedom Trail runs through the North End, which plays into my previous entry.
Similar to the Freedom Trail is the Black Heritage Trail. This is one of those things I heard of once or twice, but not in any great detail. I think in some ways this is one of the historical offerings in Boston I am looking forward to seeing the most.
I might go up in the Custom House. It’s a hotel now, but there are supposed to be free tours and an observation deck overlook Boston Harbor.
Northeastern University and the Cy Young statue is close to where I’m staying. I might be able to check that out quickly on my way to other places. If you’re into baseball you’ll understand why I’d want to stop there.
Castle Island looks cool and worth a visit, but I doubt I’ll make it out there.
Places to eat and drink are pretty much covered, as are my nights as I’ll be at the Hometown Throwdown. Do you have any ideas of what to do or see in Boston that aren’t the same things everybody does the first couple of times they visit?
