I (finally) started playing Borderlands 2 yesterday.
The original Borderlands was easily one of my favorite games in the last few years and I was looking forward to Borderlands 2. Thing is, I didn’t want to buy it when it first came out because I knew there would be a version of the game coming out later that would included most if not all of the downloadable content that was being planned for the game and chances are it would even be cheaper than the original retail price for the game.
And my patience payed off.
Only thing is, when the Game Of The Year edition of Borderlands 2 was released, I didn’t pick it up right away. The timing just wasn’t right for me to start a game I wasn’t reviewing. Then it was on sale and I picked it up, and still couldn’t dedicate any time to playing it. So there it sat. Unopened.
Until Saturday when for some reason I woke up at 4 in the morning. I thought “Well, I’m up. Maybe I can at least get pick a character and get started on the game before everybody else wakes up.”
That didn’t happen.
I didn’t realize Borderlands 2: Game Of The Year Edition comes on two discs and that both discs need to be installed. And a game update applied. And on that second disc, the one with all the extra content that was previously made available for download has to be installed individually. Before I knew it almost an hour had passed and Xavier was coming down the stairs.
Couldn’t play Sunday at all but after Xavier went down for nap on Monday I got to play for about an hour and I was reminded just why the first game was one of my favorites.
Of course, let’s see how long it actually takes me to finish the game.
