“Please Mister Postman”
This is a cover of The Marveletts 1961 hit – not The Supremes or The Shirelles as many think. It was released as the B-side to another cover, “Roll Over Beethoven” and while it charted in America, it didn’t hit very high and wasn’t even a single in Britain. According to BeatleSongs it was recorded in a single day along with a few others. Tell Me Why analyzes the song as sounding “delirious, pent up and manic” with the Beatles version of the song sounding as if the singer (in this case John) is “dying with lovesick agony” over not getting a letter or postcard from the one he loves.
As you may remember I hosted a giveaway for a copy of Despicable Me 2 on Blu-ray. I picked the winner this morning. I know I said I would do it yesterday, but Christmas got in the way. What I did was took the names of the people who entered, put them on a document and printed it out. Then I cut the names out and put them in a jar.
Then I picked a winner. Here I am trying to pick it out with one hand and hold the camera in the other. Congratulations James (a.k.a. Seattle Dad). No, this wasn’t rigged. Actually, no offense, I was sort of hoping it wouldn’t be somebody I know through the blogging community that would win, let alone somebody in the same time zone or even the same city! I’ll be sending it out shortly, so look for it in your mailbox. Just don’t bother the postman too much if it doesn’t show up right away.
