One of the greatest concerts I’ve ever attended, and I’ve been to a lot, was The Presidents Of The United States Of America. This “good time” rock band hails from the same city as me, so I’ve been fortunate to see them a few times.
Now the band has released a new album Kudos To You which most fans probably aren’t aware of. Self-released and funded through PledgeMusic, the band went into the studio with less of an album in mind and simply the thought about seeing what happens. Well, what happened is 13 fun songs about bugs, birds, the state of Ohio, a car, and more.
Alright, so it may not pack the same punch as the group’s debut, or even 2004 Love Everybody, but it’s still quite a decent package of tunes.
What people may not also realize is Kudos To You is the second album the group has recorded with Andrew McKeag on GuitBass (the 3 stringed instrument). In 2008 the group recorded These Are The Good Times People to little fanfare as well. And yes, many people don’t even realize there’s been a changing of the guard as original member Dave Dederer left the band 10 years ago (amicably).
I could write for pages and pages about The Presidents Of The United States Of America. Maybe I will one day. Until then, I offer up “Poor Little Me” the first single off the band’s new album.
