I recently finished ripping my music – well, most of it. My general “A-Z” stuff has been converted to MP3 with most of my soundtracks and collections as well as the classical music still waiting. There are a few random CDs that didn’t make it, such as a Robert Plant CD that simply refuses to work or whatever.
By doing this project, of converting my CD collection to MP3 I’ve rediscovered a few gems that I have but forgotten about. Most of those I’ll leave for another time, but even with the music that I already have in heavy rotation I’ve been rediscovering things, and that’s where today’s post comes in.
“(My My) Baby’s Gonna Cry” is the final single from Eurythmics before the group reformed for one album. Off of the generally less regarded We To Are One album, this track stands out. ONe of the reasons for this is not just the music but also the appearance of Dave Stewart prominently taking co-lead vocals with Annie Lennox.
Here’s the official music video for the song:
The single has a decent remix, but the standout is the acoustic version. There are a couple of times in the band’s career when they just had a guitar and vocal arrangement and I’d love to hear more of these types of versions.
I know as I do more of these Music Monday posts I’ll get into a few more tunes from Eurythmics. There’s so much great stuff and they were underappreciated in my opinion.
