Finally saw Frozen last night. We missed it in theaters, unfortunately, but right when it came out on Blu-ray we bought it. As life happens, I didn’t get to see it with the kids. The second time they watched the film it was with mom.
After the 2nd time of watching the film my daughter Déla couldn’t stop singing some of the songs – at length. A couple of weeks later they all watched the film with Xavier, fast forwarding all of the scarier parts. And I still hadn’t seen the film. Until last night.
The film was great, and the music certainly is catchy. I was struck with just how the songs were all very reminiscent of Broadway productions. After looking things up I learned the songs were written by a duo who have worked on Broadway productions and even earned Tony awards. Well, that explains why the songs sound like Broadway show numbers.
Here is the opening number “Frozen Heart” which reminded me of the opening number of The Music Man “Rock Island”.
Here is August’s 4th grade class performing “In Summer” during their spring concert. I apologize for the lousy video quality. It’s my phone and I didn’t quite realize I could adjust it for higher quality until just after the concert.
