My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic – Keys Of Friendship (DVD)

mlp keys of freindship dvdI have mentioned my admiration for “My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic” before, how I think it is a positive show for kids that is supposedly designed for girls but has much greater appeal. My 11 year old son watches it with his sister. It is well written with solid characters that are not one dimensional.

Shout Factory now has the latest DVD available from the series – Keys Of Friendship which collects five episodes from the 4th season including the two-part season finale.

“Rarity Takes Manhattan”

“Pinkie Apple Pie”

“It Ain’t Easy Being Breezies”

“Twilight’s Kingdom” (Parts 1 & 2)

The two-part season finale directly addresses the mythology of the show and it’s overall storyline about Twilight Sparkle having become an Alicorn (winged unicorn) and addressing her role as princess. This episode also brings back Discord, one of the primary antagonists of thee series (voiced by John DeLancie), only this time he is supposed to be helping against a new threat, an older enemy that has resurfaced.

Other episodes on the DVD feature the usual morals about friendship. There’s a great episode about genealogy which might be my favorite one on this DVD.

While it doesn’t replace the full season sets (hey, Shout Factory, I’m still waiting on season 3 *hint*) this is a decent overview of the big arc in season 4 – though a couple of key episodes are more than likely to be found on another DVD release.
