Beatles Week 2014 Preparation

Beatles Week 2014 Preparation

let it be movie posterWelcome to my annual Beatles Week.

No, I’m not going to have a week’s worth of posts about The Beatles (which I could easily do). Instead I will be having regular blog post, only the post’s titles will be taken from titles of songs the band has released over the course of their career.

Since within the Beatles world a week lasts eight days (for the song “Eight Days A Week”) there are to be eight blog posts. Counting Christmas and New Year’s Day, there are eight days to occupy – December 25 through January 1 is eight days, inclusive.

Originally created by Mark on his personal blog in 2008, I followed suit in 2009 and have been “carrying the torch” ever since. Mark has since moved on to Zwolanerd.com a great pop culture love letter and I hope he revives the series there some day.

Each year follows a theme. Previously I have done:

2009 – Random Song Titles (no actual theme)

2010 – North American Album Titles (the Capitol releases)

2011 – Songs Sung By Ringo

2012 – Songs Sung By George

2013 – B-sides

The trick is only songs they band released during their career. This means Anthology and Live At The BBC are out, as are the various bootlegs and semi-official live albums (Hollywood Bowl and Star-Club). While it may seem limiting, it still leaves well over 20 songs for me to chose from as titles or inspiration for my posts, and it should be more than enough.

Let’s see how things go this year.
