Dragonheart 3 and Scorpion King 4 (Blu-ray)

Did you know there were more direct to video films in these franchises? I didn’t. Let’s take a quick look at them.dragonheart 3

Dragonheart 3: The Sorcerer’s Curse

Dragonheart was released theatrically in 1996 and was a decent film, then followed in 2000 by a direct to video sequel. Now, 15 years later, we get a prequel to those two films.

Is it good? Does it matter? This is a direct to video prequel to a film that came nearly 20 years ago. What do you expect from it?

The Scorpion King 4: Quest For Power

scorpion king 4This spin-off franchise now has more entries than the one which spawned it. Does that make this one more successful? These are direct to video sequels and prequels which don’t feature any of the same cast. Well, that’s not true. The title character is portrayed this time by the same person who portrayed him in the 3rd film.

This time we have Lou Ferrigno heading a cast of WWE and MMA folks who were cast more for their physique than anything else. But you knew that going into this, right? And there’s Rutger Hauer.

I would have preferred a fourth Mummy film.
