You might remember a few weeks ago when I posted about some trouble I was having with subscription box services for my son August for his birthday. Ultimately I decided to go with Geek Fuel and the first box arrived shortly after August’s birthday. He couldn’t have been more thrilled with the contents.
One of the items included in the box is a Yoda poster by graphic artist Terribly Odd. While very cool, and something August will gladly put up on the wall of his bedroom, it wasn’t the best thing in the box.
Four Plants vs. Zombies enamel pins were included, out of a possible 13, a couple of which are rare, apparently. These are the type of thing you purchase individually in a sealed pouch and then see which one you got. The goal is to collect them all, of course.
A “slap koozie” for keeping cans cold (or to be used as an arm bracelet) is included as well as a download code for a game – Square Heroes. Also included are some temporary tattoos featuring characters from the game.
Marvel’s new Secret Wars event is kicking off and issue #1 is included in the box in an exclusive variant cover packed in with a certificate of authenticity.
Finally there is the shirt. A Doctor Who themed shirt this month and August couldn’t be happier. I was hoping he would get a Doctor Who shirt in one of these boxes, and the first one hit it right out of the park.
The backside lists “tour dates” which just makes the joke all the better if you know your Doctor Who.
Here is a short video of August opening the box and reacting to the items as they come out.
