Walking home from… whatever errand we were doing, I looked at a house for sale a block away from our house. Well, looked at it as much as I could while walking past it pushing a stroller.
Xavier said “I like that house. When I grow up I am going to buy that house and get married.”
“Oh?” I replied. “What is it about that house you like?”
“It’s a house.”
I was sort of puzzled, but then his 5 year old logic kicked in.
“That’s what you do when you grow up. You get a house and you get married.”
Made sense. Then things went wrong.
“Did you have a house before you got married to mom?”
“Well, no. We moved into this house we live in now together. We were living together for a while first before we got married.”
The shock on his face was priceless.
“You were just kissing, right?”
