Of Rain Gear

silly coleman rain suitI recently had need of some rain gear, and I won’t bother you with the particulars of why I was to be standing outside in the rain for hours – suffice to say I needed better protection. So I picked up this rain suit from Coleman. I figured, heck, Coleman is a decent brand, they make a bunch of outdoor stuff and at 20 millimeters (by far not the thinnest on offer, but there were thicker) I figured it would last a while.

Looking at the picture that accompanied the packaging of the rain suit, I should have been tipped off. If you look closely you can tell it has not been raining, nor does it appear to begin raining imminently. Maybe the rain suit wasn’t actually designed for rain?

The rain suit I had certainly wasn’t designed to be worn much because I only wore the pants and after less than 2 hours of continuous wear there was a massive split along the seam down the inside of my left left. No, not just a few inches but well over a foot in length.

Next time I need a rain suit I’m just going to wear it when the sun is out.
