This is what happens when you don’t take too long between these posts. I don’t have a lot to share. Well, in a way, I do.
Thing is, it has been a big week for Déla.
Here she is getting a first place trophy for her Slip Jig.
Then, out of the blue, she was awarded Most Promising Dancer. This one surprised everybody, including one of her instructors that was there. It just goes to show that she has the talent, and now the hard work needs to take place.
Here is a better look at that trophy.
For those not familiar with Irish dance and how it works, there are different levels and it takes a while before you can move up (usually by getting first place in a competitive dance – not one of the trophy dances) and when you move up enough in ability rank (beginner, novice, etc.) you can wear a “solo” dress, a unique dress, not one of your school’s costumes, which is what she has been wearing. Déla has moved up enough to earn her first solo dress. Here she is trying it on.
Yes, it’s used, everybody’s first (and usually second and third) solo dresses are used. Here she is giving it a trial run before we commit to spending the money on it. Spoiler: We are going to be buying it.
And just so this whole update isn’t just about Déla, here is Tevye playing in the back yard.
Oh, back to Déla, who is playing the Minstrel in the middle school musical, Once Upon A Mattress. That’s her on the far left. There will be more pictures of this soon.
That’s going to be it for this time.
