Lately I have been going through and cleaning up my MP3 files. Some of them have no band associated with them for some reason, or simply track numbers and no title. I was getting to my folder of Beatles music and decided to further split my collection into separate categories – by renaming the band associated with each album.
The Beatles
for the core albums, stereo and mono
(and I might further split this category into “Beatles Mono” and “Beatles Stereo”)
The Beatles (extra)
for the “extra” stuff that was officially released, such as Anthology or the Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band 50th anniversary box.
The Beatles (boot)
for my “regular” bootleg albums
The Beatles (boot live)
for the bootleg live albums
Going through each of these albums and re-categorizing them is actually a more laborious procedure than I had anticipated. Sometimes when changing the band name from “Beatles, The” to “The Beatles (boot)” or whatever, the whole data set gets deleted. Song title, band name, album name, etc. This is particularly frustrating.
“Nowhere Man” (Candlestick Park, 1996)
I do not have a full count of how many hours (days?) of Beatles music I have. Taking into account the different versions of songs, mono and stereo, the copious live recordings, the wealth of studio material released officially or not, there’s simply an overwhelming amount of content there.
