This week has been… let’s just call it interesting.
How about Tuesday? Lets recall that day for starters.
The day started on a high note. My usual 5:30 a.m. spin class was a highlight as the first song of the set was by Huey Lewis & The News. I rather enjoyed that quite a bit.
By the end of the day, things had taken a turn for the worse.
Xavier had been complaining about not feeling well. For a couple of days, actually. When I would see him at lunchtime while picking up Tevye from preschool, he was right there in the mix playing hard.
Sitting in front of the school waiting for August to come down, Xavier complained again of not feeling well.
Then he threw up.
It took what felt like forever for August to come out, and he complained about not feeling so well himself.
At least he waited until we got home before throwing up.
Wednesday was of course a long day with the two of them home but it worked out fine. Actually, it seems to be just what they needed. They both slept in, rested, and were feeling much better. Today (Thursday) they went back to school.
This morning, Thursday, started out as usual with a 5:30 a.m. spin class.
My morning routine has shifted a bit recently. Now City Cycle has four classes at 5:30 in the morning, Monday through Thursday, not just Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Adding that Wednesday class has been an adjustment. A painful one. By the time Thursday rolls around my body is tired and it is difficult to get through class at times. It has only been about a month of four days a week, but there is no going back. Actually, if they offered it on Friday I would do it (I’m a glutton for punishment, apparently).
Before class starts the instructor says they are celebrating one of their riders. I think to myself “Oh, this is usually fun,” and wonder who has hit a milestone.
Turns out it was me.
Today was my 151st ride, but my 150th 5:30 a.m. class.
Not only did they call me out for attending a high number of classes, but that I have walked to each one. While there have been several cold and rainy mornings where I have considered driving in to class, the fact that it’s three and a half blocks away prevented me from doing so.
I was given a (rather nice) water bottle to commemorate the milestone.
And yes, I will be using that water bottle four days a week from here out.
What I feel weird about is that immediately after getting recognized for my attendance I am going to be gone for a week.
Next week is the 8th grade trip to Washington D.C. and I am going along as a chaperone.
I will be back at it when I return.
